Walt Disney Animation Studios currently has an exciting opportunity for an Associate/1st Assistant Editor at its Burbank, CA studio.  This position reports to the Supervising Editor and VP of Post Production. The Walt Disney Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.



  • Room Setup
    • Helps Editor design layout of cutting rooms
    • Helps Editor and First Assistant establish work procedures for cutting room and how it’s expected to function and perform
  • Daily Duties
    • Assembles first picture cuts for Supervising Editor
    • Pull, cut, and conform all temp sound effects under creative direction of Director and Editor
    • Make sure the Director’s creative vision is correctly represented in sound
    • Maintain sound effects reels throughout the duration of the film
    • Backup Editor when he or she is sick or on vacation by leading editorial sessions and sweatbox
    • Tackle special editorial projects and presentations
    • Attend Editorial turnovers and take notes on special sound requests and design issues
  • Screening and Mix Duties
    • Help supervise mix sessions with Editor
    • Attends screenings and take notes for reel updates
    • Make sure sound quality is at the highest quality for all screenings
  • Post Production
    • Make sure that sound crew has temp sound effect reels for guide track reference
    • Help supervise predubs and final mix
  • Additional Duties May Include
    • Avid-Help input and output all media
    • Story-Attend all work book turnovers with Editors
    • Quicktimes-Generate cuts and compositions for Music Editor, Producer, Animators, Composers, and Sound Editor
    • Screening Preparation
    • Collaborate with Editorial Production Supervisor 

  • 6 + years experience in a Feature Film Editorial Capacity
  • 3 + years Editorial experience in Feature Animated Films 
  • Advance technical knowledge of AVID Media Composer 
  • Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes
  • Having cut Independent projects or short subject films as a Lead Editor 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Digital Media, related field or equivalent work experience
